About us
Waterford Roadrunners are a group who encourage roadrunning/walking around the Waterford area and who support charities by raising money from organised roadrunning events. The primary event we host is the annual Winter League with 2 routes available to challenge absolute beginners right through to improving athletes.
History of Waterford Roadrunners
The Waterford Road Runners group was started by Seamus Cooper and Bobby Coady in the form of a the Paddy Byrne Winter League in 2001, as they felt those that simply dabbled in running had nowhere to showcase their potential and have a lorra lorra laughs at the same time. The numbers averaged at 50 a night for the first year!
As the years have gone on the Winter league has gone from strength to strength and Waterford AC have come on board to assist the Waterford Roadrunners in running the league. In the 2008/2009 league our numbers grew to over 600 on some nights between the 2 routes offered.
